San Diego Zoo

In 1987. Basi and Yuan Yuan were at the zoo for 200 days. These very rare animals attracted over two million visitors that year.They first male and female giant panda cubs born in the US and survive into full maturity were Mei Sheng San Diego is home to the world famous San Diego Zoo. These 100 acres of land have over 4000 animals and more than 800 different species.The animals at the zoo, rare or endangered, are exhibited according to their natural habitat.

San Diego Zoo Pandas

The most popular exhibit in the zoo are the giant pandas. Aside from Mainland China, the San Diego Zoo has the largest population of giant pandas.The first giant pandas arrived at the San Diego Zoo iand Hua Mei. They were born at the San Diego Zoo in 1999 and 2003. The zoo grows 40 different bamboos to feed the pandas.

Polar Bear Plunge

One of my favorite attractions in the zoo is the Polar Bear Plunge .You are probably wondering, what? A polar bear in sunny California? Yes, indeed.The Polar Bear Plunge is absolutely entertaining. You can watch them in an underwater view room. Sometimes, the polar bears look at the reactions of humans. They like showing off for us.

Absolutely Apes

Another favorite is the Absolutely Apes. The orangutans are so much fun to watch. They entertain visitors with their striking personalities. You’ll enjoy watching them swinging on the trees.

San Diego Zoo Fun

Aside from wild and exotic animals, you will also see exhibits of different kinds of tropical and subtropical plants. There are more than 700,000 plants in their botanical gardens.The San Diego zoo also provides guided bus tours for those who do not like taking long walks, just like myself. It includes a 40-minute tour complete with a narrator. The fee is $10 for adults and $5.50 for kids ages 3 to 11.San Diego Zoo is a whole day event. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, for you are going to do a lot of walking.
